Ukraine calls on the states of the Caspian region to make every effort to force the Russian Federation to adhere to its international legal obligations.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba and Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian had a conversation and exchanged views on a wide range of bilateral issues. The head of the Ukrainian department stressed that Russia is violating the Convention on the Status of the Caspian Sea, informs Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday, June 30.
“I spoke with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, who informed me about Iran’s latest contacts with Russia. We exchanged views on a wide range of bilateral issues. I stressed that the Russian Federation is violating the Convention on the Status of the Caspian Sea by firing missiles at Ukraine from this region,” – declared Kuleba.
According to the Foreign Ministry, Ukraine calls on the states of the Caspian region to make every effort to force the Russian Federation to adhere to its international legal obligations, in particular the Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea.
The department emphasized that the missile strikes that Russia inflicts on civilian infrastructure facilities of Ukrainian cities from the Caspian region grossly violate the provisions of the convention.
“We call on the countries participating in the convention to encourage Russia to stop using the Caspian Sea to continue its armed aggression against Ukraine, as well as to prevent further militarization of the region and its involvement in an armed conflict,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
As you know, the aggressor country Russia regularly launches missile strikes from aircraft flying over the Caspian Sea.
