The information provided by the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (SPKC) shows that a total of 27 cases of Covid-19 infection have been confirmed in Kuldiga this week, all of which are related to the manufacturing company SIA Kuldīgas tekstils.

The SPKC has identified contact persons for infected people who are in isolation and do not go to work or education. The general practitioners of the contact persons are also informed. The contact persons include students of several Kuldīga educational institutions and also individual employees.

Jolanta Krūmkalne, a member of the board of “Kuldīgas tekstila”, confirmed that a total of 27 employees have been infected in the company, but she has no information about infected family members of employees.

Krūmkalne explained that the sick employees and their contact persons are in quarantine for 14 days, but the other employees of the company are in self-isolation.

“Currently, the company is closed, of course, customers suffer, because we will not deliver very important orders during this time. We hope to resume work in ten days with those employees who are in self-isolation, but before that we will perform repeated Covid -19 analyzes for them,” Krūmkalne added.

On Thursday, September 24, Covid-19 tests were also performed for all employees of SIA “Saules ieleja 3” who work in the same building as “Kuldīgas tekstils” and who provide catering in several Kuldīga educational institutions. All tests are negative, so the infection has not spread to this company, concluded Dulbinsky.

As reported, today in an extraordinary sitting, the deputies of Kuldīga County Council decide on further actions and possible restrictions in order to limit the spread of the disease.

The Social Service of Kuldīga region is ready to help residents who have difficulties to provide for themselves and their families due to forced downtime, Dulbinska added.
