Kuehne+Nagel strengthens its LTL network for healthcare shipments in Europe

European Healthcare Gets a Logistics Boost With New Kuehne+Nagel Hub

Budapest, Hungary – Kuehne+Nagel, a global leader in logistics, has made a strategic move to strengthen its European healthcare logistics network with the launch of a new, state-of-the-art cross-dock facility in Budapest, Hungary.

The 2,000 square meter facility is designed specifically for handling less-than-truckload (LTL) shipments of healthcare products. This new hub acts as a strategically placed complement to the existing Kuehne+Nagel healthcare hub in Luxembourg, offering enhanced distribution capabilities across the European continent.

"Due to the sensitive and highly regulated nature of healthcare goods, businesses were initially hesitant to shift from full-truckload (FTL) to LTL services. We have earned their trust by demonstrating that our LTL services meet the same rigorous quality standards, while offering cost-efficiency and reduced carbon emissions. As the demand for these services grows, we are strengthening our network, enabling customers to benefit from even shorter lead times," explained Joerg Woyke, Global Head of Healthcare Road Logistics for Kuehne+Nagel.

The Budapest facility boasts highly secure and temperature-controlled environments, maintaining precise temperature ranges of 2-8°C and 15-25°C as needed for various healthcare products. This hub will significantly streamline collection and distribution services not only within Hungary but also throughout a wide swathe of neighboring countries, including Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia, Romania, Greece, and Bulgaria.

This expansion in Budapest aligns with Kuehne+Nagel’s broader Roadmap 2026 strategy, which emphasizes developing solutions that cater to the unique needs of healthcare customers. The company recognizes the growing demand for high-quality, efficient transportation of healthcare shipments across Europe and is actively optimizing its road freight network to meet this demand.

This latest development reflects a global trend towards more sophisticated and sustainable logistics solutions in the healthcare sector. As the industry continues to evolve, Kuehne+Nagel’s commitment to innovation and customer-centricity positions them as a key player in shaping the future of healthcare logistics.
