Kudus DKK Records DHF Cases to Increase Fourfold during 2021

HOLY – The Kudus District Health Office (DKK) recorded the number of cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) during 2021 as many as 175 cases, an increase of four times. In 2020 only 40 cases.

Head of the Kudus DKK, Hurricane Ismoyo, through the Sub-Coordinator for Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases, Nuryanto, said that during 2021 the highest cases occurred in November, reaching 26 cases. Meanwhile, in December there were 23 cases down. However, it is still higher than the previous months.

For the first week of this month, five cases of dengue have been reported.

He revealed that the increase in dengue cases in 2021 was due to seasonal anomalies which had an impact on the breeding of mosquito larvae faster. So it must be anticipated by keeping the home environment and its surroundings clean and healthy.

In addition, erratic seasons can also cause a person’s immune system to decrease. So that when bitten by mosquitoes carrying the dengue virus, they are easily exposed because their immune system is low because they are unable to fight the virus.

DKK mobilized puskesmas to provide education on the importance of a healthy lifestyle and eradication of mosquito nests (PSN) through draining bathtubs or water reservoirs. Closing water reservoirs and burying used items that have the potential to collect rainwater. In order not to be used as a place to breed mosquito larvae that are possible to carry the dengue virus.

“We are also promoting that every house has one larva monitoring interpreter (jumantik) so that each resident ensures that their house is free of mosquito larvae,” he said.

According to him, efforts to eradicate DBB through PSN are quite effective. Compared with other methods such as selective abatization or fumigation or fogging. (zen)
