KuCoin Twitter Account Hacked: $20,000 Worth of Bitcoin and Ethereum Stolen, Exchange Promises Reimbursement

The twitter account of KuCoin been pirate for 45 minutes. THE hackers succeeded in stealing about 20 000 dollars in Bitcoin et Ethereum. The crypto exchange announces to reimburse THE victims.

Early Monday morning, KuCoin announced that pirates had taken control of his twitter account and published messages aimed at stealing cryptocurrencies from its subscribers.

The @kucoincom handle was compromised for about 45 minutes from 00:00 on April 24 (UTC+2). Fake activity was posted which unfortunately resulted in asset loss for multiple users,” Kucoin wrote, adding that it is proceeding with full reimbursement for all “verified” asset loss caused by this attack.

Wanting to be reassuring, the Seychellois exchange further specified that only the twitter account of KuCoin had been hit. Kucoin identified 22 ETH and BTC transactions associated with the hackers, worth a total of $22,628.

“In addition to Twitter’s existing 2FA, the KuCoin team will implement additional security measures to strengthen the protection of our social media accounts,” the company concluded.

Valued at $10 billion during its last round, Kucoin is now the subject of lawsuits in the United States.
