KU Leuven students and Thomas More build fully self-driving electric racing car

The racing car weighs 250 kilos and travels about 25 kilometers per hour. “That is slower than our previous racing cars”, Schippers realizes. “But we have built a basic platform on which work can continue next year, to increase the speed.” There is no room for a driver or passenger. “We want to work on that too, so that in the future we have a hybrid car that can be steered but is also self-driving.”

The students want to participate in the Formula Student Competition next year with the improved version of the self-driving electric racing car. It is one of the largest engineering competitions in the world.
