KU Leuven starts new disciplinary investigation into students who were involved in fatal baptism of Sanda Dia

The university recently requested access to the criminal file. According to KU Leuven, this request has been granted. “The university is now exercising its right of access and has started a new disciplinary investigation”, it sounds.

In addition, KU Leuven has also decided to temporarily deny the students concerned access to the university buildings. This intervention is intended to “ensure that educational activities proceed safely and serenely”. “The students concerned will not be allowed access to the university buildings until the end of the first semester of the academic year 2020-21 and will not be able to take an active role in interactive distance learning either. They will be given the opportunity to follow digital lessons for which no contact with fellow students is required “, says KU Leuven.

For the time being, the university is not making any further comments “in order to preserve the serenity of the internal procedures and of the legal proceedings”. Earlier this week, the Vrije Universiteit Brussel announced that they are also starting a disciplinary investigation into a student who is now studying at the VUB but who may have been involved in the fatal baptism at the time.
