An accident occurred on the 29th when the KTX-Sancheon train, which was traveling from Pohang, Gyeongsangbuk-do to Seoul, collided with a wild boar in a tunnel near Angang Station in Gyeongju-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do and was stopped for about an hour.
According to the Gyeongbuk Fire Department and KORAIL, at around 7:12 p.m. on this day, the KTX-Sancheon train from Pohang to Seoul carrying 245 passengers collided with a wild boar while operating between Angang and West Gyeongju on the Donghae Line and came to an emergency stop.
The location where the accident occurred was inside the Nawon Tunnel. The train, which had been stopped for over an hour, took emergency measures and moved backwards to Angang Station at around 8:27 p.m. The passengers transferred to the alternative KTX and departed again for Seoul at around 8:58 p.m.
Due to the accident on this day, two high-speed trains were delayed by about 10 minutes and two regular trains were delayed by about 30 minutes. An official from the Gyeongbuk Fire Department said, “There were no casualties.” KORAIL returned the accident train to the depot and is investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
