Thiruvananthapuram ∙ Government in the High Court against the Governor for the appointment of Sisa Thomas, Senior Joint Director, Technical Education Department, appointed Vice-Rector of the Technical University. The government demanded that the appointment be canceled as it is against the university law. The judge must cite the acts with which the appointment was made. Another VC should be replaced until the petition is deleted. The government argues that the governor does not have the power to appoint a temporary VC as he wishes.
The petition was filed in the High Court against the Governor as Chancellor. Since the Secretary for Higher Education is not ready to submit the petition
Additional Secretary at the Department of Higher Education C. Ajayan filed the petition in court on behalf of the government.
Meanwhile, the Senate member also petitioned the High Court seeking to stop the move to delay the appointment of Kerala University VC. Senate Member S. Jayaram petitioned the High Court requesting that a Senate meeting be called at the University of Kerala to appoint a representative to the research committee or to allow the Governor’s two-member committee to carry out further work and interrupt the move to delay the appointment of the VC.
