FAJAR.CO.ID, MAKASSAR — The Supervisor of the No-Smoking Area (KTR) of Makassar City conducted an inspection on Tuesday (22/8/2023). As a result, in a non-smoking area which is also a government office, cigarette butts were found scattered around.
This was disclosed by Expert Staff for Governance, Law and Politics of the City of Makassar, Andi Irwan Bangsawan. After leading an inspection with Satpol PP personnel and officers from the Makassar Health Service (Dinkes).
The inspection targeted a number of regional apparatus organization (OPD) offices. Such as the Education Office and the joint service office on Jalan Urip Sumoharjo.
“So today we went down to several OPDs, the first was at the Paropo sub-district office, the Education Office and the joint service office,” he said.
Apart from finding cigarette butts strewn about, Irwan said he smelled cigarettes in a number of office rooms.
“We got cigarette butts in the room but the information has not yet arrived at the Bapenda (joint agency) office, so we will socialize them,” he explained.
Currently, Irwan said that the action had not been implemented. Because Regional Regulation No. 4 of 2013 is still in the socialization stage. The regulation states a fine of IDR 500,000 up to a misdemeanor (tipiring).
“We hope to form an internal team and prepare smoking area locations and supervise and enforce sanctions,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Head of Disease Control and Prevention (P2P) at the Makassar Health Office, Andi Mariani hopes that similar violations will not occur again. He also asked the employees to greet each other in the room.
