KTM just ahead of Ducati in the first practice session

11:13 am

Moto2 FT1: Lowes best time

Jorge Martin holds the best time for a moment, but now Sam Lowes sets the bar to 1: 29.218 minutes.

The top 10 are: Lowes, Martin, Bezzecchi, Navarro, Fernandez, Gardner, Canet, Chantra, Schrötter and Bastianini.

11:12 a.m.

Moto2 FT1: Bezzecchi fastest

Many drivers drive a relatively long first stint. Marc Bezzecchi is already in his tenth lap and sets a new best time of 1: 29.793 minutes. Navarro is the new runner-up. Lowes was in the pits and holds third place. Augusto Fernandez follows in fourth place.

These four drivers are already under 1:30 minutes.

11:08 am

Moto2 FT1: Good time from Schrötter

On his seventh lap, Schrötter drove 1: 30.097 minutes and moved up to fifth. His teammate Lüthi is 14.

11:03 am

Moto2 FT1: New engines

By the way, all Moto2 teams start in Spielberg with new Triumph engines. These are raffled so that fairness prevails.

11:02 a.m.

Moto2 FT1: Lowes ahead of Gardner

In the first few minutes the drivers shoot their way onto the track and we can already see very good lap times. Remy Gardner first put forward, but then Sam Lowes takes the lead with 1: 29.869 minutes. The Briton is the first driver under 1:30 minutes.

10:56 am

Moto2 FT1: Bastianini’s third coup?

After his sovereign victories in Jerez and Brno, we are excited to see whether Enea Bastianini will also strike in Spielberg. His recent performances also link him to MotoGP. Yesterday he is said to have talked to Ducati sports director Paolo Ciabatti.

10:48 am

MotoGP FT1: Time deleted by me

Joan Mir’s last flying lap is subsequently canceled because he drove that time when yellow flags were waved in the final sector after Bradley Smith fell.

As a result, Mir falls from third to ninth.

The top 10 are: Pol Espargaro, Dovizioso, Nakagami, Rins, Morbidelli, Zarco, Oliveira, Miller, Mir and Quartararo.

10:44 am

MotoGP FT1: Checkered Flag

The training comes to an end and nothing changes at the top. Pol Espargaro is the fastest with 1: 24.193 minutes. Last year’s winner Andrea Dovizioso follows just behind the KTM rider. Third is Joan Mir with the Suzuki.

Takaaki Nakagami and Alex Rins round off the top 5. So we have a colorful mix of brands at the top. Places six to tenth go to Franco Morbidelli as the best Yamaha rider, Johann Zarco, Miguel Oliveira, Jack Miller and Fabio Quartararo.

Valentino Rossi is only 0.6 seconds behind, but that only means 13th place. 18 drivers are in one second. Stefan Bradl is 21st and penultimate.

Finally, Bradley Smith falls off his Aprilia at Turn 4.

10:37 am

MotoGP FT1: Dovizioso also strong

Last year’s winner can keep up and comes within 0.044 seconds of Espargaro’s best time.

And with the third fastest lap, Nakagami shows that the Honda is doing well in Spielberg.

10:35 a.m.

MotoGP FT1: Best time Pol Espargaro

The KTM rider also fitted a soft rear tire and improved his best time to 1: 24.514 minutes.

10:34 a.m.

MotoGP FT1: final phase

The last ten minutes are running and everyone is in the pits again. With several drivers we can now see a weak rear tire. So we are still experiencing a mini qualifying.

The current order: Pol Espargaro, Rins, Mir, Dovizioso, Petrucci, Quartararo, Oliveira, Nakagami, Zarco and Miller.

10:31 am

MotoGP FT1: Binder far back

For Brno winner Brad Binder, it has not yet been an optimal start to training, because with 1.2 seconds the South African only holds 20th place.

10:29 am

MotoGP FT1: Suzuki attacks

Alex Rins and Joan Mir drive their personal best laps. Rins is second and Mir is third. Both are less than a tenth of a second missing on Pol Espargaro. That’s a strong exclamation point from Suzuki!

10:22 am

MotoGP FT1: Yamaha is a bit behind

Quartararo and Rossi are a little more than half a second off the top. That means you won’t be in the top 10 in today’s MotoGP. It looks like a difficult weekend for Yamaha, because Vinales and Morbidelli are only 14th and 15th.

10:20 a.m.

MotoGP FT1: Best time Pol Espargaro

In his eleventh lap, Pol Espargaro improved slightly to 1: 24.685 minutes. His lead on Rins is 0.099 seconds. Dovizioso is also missing just over a tenth of a second.
