KSV Kuhardt Takes Third Place in Regional League with Home Win and Defeat in Catch-up Game

In the last preliminary round game of the regional league, KSV Kuhardt had the chance to overtake the Kegelfreunde Sembach with a win and thus end the year as the best Palatinate team in the table.

With Nicolai Bastian (553) and Sebastian Schmidt (581) a perfect start was achieved. A 2-0 lead with 82 pins was exactly what the KSV had imagined. After a strong start, Jochen Härtel (544) lost against the strongest guest, Markus Wingerter (594) collected another point, meaning they went into the final with 3:1 and an 81 cone cushion.

Although Sascha Leucht (560) had to let his opponent go, Philipp Braun (622) provided another generous gain with the only 600 of the day. With 6:2 and 3454:3330 they didn’t show the gala of previous games, but they were able to catch the guests on the wrong foot and achieve a clear home win. With 12:8 points they are now third in the table. In any case, an exciting second half of the season is guaranteed, starting on January 6th, 2024 when KV Grünstadt is looking for revenge for the first leg defeat last week.

In the catch-up game of the 1st Rhineland-Palatinate League, the class leader from 1. SKC Monsheim played against KSV Kuhardt 2. The KSV started with Enrico Campanella (518) and Frank Schäfer (576). So they were 0:2 and 50 pins behind. A small preliminary decision was made when Dominik Mendel (528) suffered a clear defeat, while Mark Mayer (547) secured his point after a botched start. 1:3 and 99 cones away, that was a big challenge for the final run. Here Pirmin Rinck (543) managed to score another point, Richard Schwan (530) had nothing to gain against the best guest player. Overall, they lost 2:6 with a final score of 3242:3395 and remain in last place in the table with a win.
