KSRTC Commissioner Biju Prabhakar Demands Removal, Salary Delayed: Latest Update

Thiruvananthapuram – Biju Prabhakar met the Chief Secretary demanding that KSRTC should be removed from the post of CMD. Biju Prabhakar’s demand is that one person should be appointed only for the post of CMD as he is in charge of the transport department.

The High Court had directed the CMD to appear in person if the employees are not paid before 20. This month’s salary disbursement has been delayed due to the finance department not allocating the money correctly. 30 crore rupees is given by the finance department for salary. Only the first installment was paid yesterday. Usually the first installment is paid on the 5th. KSRTC officials say that the money given by the finance department is enough to pay the first installment.

Yesterday, INTUC led a march to Biju Prabhakar’s house. Biju Prabhakar had requested Transport Minister Antony Raju to remove him from the post due to obstacles in salary distribution. KSRTC says that the finance department is undermining the assurance given by the Chief Minister. The transport minister had also made the same allegation.

The chief minister’s assurance was that he would pay the full salary before five. Later it was agreed that the first installment would be paid within 5 days and the second installment within 15 days. This also did not work. 225 crores of income was received last month, but the organization is unable to pay salaries. Unions are coming to the position that they will not work if they are not paid.

They point out that if the government continues this stance, Onam will not get paid. CMD will explain the issues in KSRTC through social media this evening. Two months pension has also been stopped. The High Court will hear the case on the 18th.
