KSRTC Bus Driver Assaulted by Violent Migrant Workers in Pothankot

Pothankot ∙ The KSRTC driver came after and beat up the guest workers, who were violent and drunk, for not letting them on the bus. In the incident, Hyder Ali (31), a native of Cooch Baharpashim Rampur, West Bengal, and Samir Soumik (22), a native of Assam Hojai Lummiding, were arrested by the Pothankot police. The driver of Vikas Bhavan depot, K., a native of Kakkodi, Kozhikode, was beaten up. Sasikumar (51) was injured.

The incident took place inside the Pothankot KSRTC bus terminal at 3.40 pm yesterday. The assailants were caught by the locals and handed over to the police. At Plamood near Pothankot, the accused who were intoxicated stood in the middle of the road and waved at the bus. When the driver started to stop the bus, he hit the bus hard. With this, the driver took the bus forward.

Later, the group boarded another bus and reached the bus terminal and brutally beat up the driver Sasikumar.

Even though the conductor came to stop them, they continued to beat him while intoxicated. The assailants tried to run away when the passengers heard the commotion, but the locals caught them and handed them over to the police.
