Kryvyi Rih Faces Water Emergency After Kakhovskaya Hydroelectric Power Station Blast

In a month, 70% of Kryvyi Rih may be left without water if you do not save.

Due to the explosion of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, the Russians stopped water supply to the Yuzhnoye reservoir, which supplies water to 70% of Krivoy Rog. If the citizens do not start saving water, then in a month they will be available only 30% water.

About it informed head of the Council of Krivoy Rog Alexander Vilkul in Telegram.

“On Thursday (June 8 – ed.) at 03:20 at night, the level fell below our water intake. This means that Kakhovka water stopped flowing to our Yuzhnoye reservoir – the existing system for pumping water from the Kakhovskoye reservoir to Yuzhnoye, from which supplies water to 70% of the city, has become impossible… This is the case when the development of the situation really depends on each of you,” he said.

According to Vilkul, if residents do not save water, then in a month 70% of Kryvyi Rih will remain without water.

We are talking about Ternovsky, Pokrovsky, Inguletsky, Dolgintsevsky districts, part of Saksagansky (from Yubileyny microdistrict and further) and part of Metallurgical. Water is supplied to the Central City district and partially to the Metallurgical, Dolgintsevsky and Saksagansky districts from the Karachunovsky reservoir. There are currently no water supply risks in this part of the city.

“The second option is to save and gain time to carry out the necessary work. There are no other options,” he said.

In the Nikopol region, water supply has already been stopped in Pokrov, Marganets, part of the Pokrovskaya community, Tomakovskaya, Mirovskaya and Krasnogrigorevskaya TG.

Industrial enterprises have already reduced consumption to a minimum, in the villages near the city, to which water is supplied by Kryvbassvodokanal, water is supplied four hours a day.

“But the main consumer of water is the population of the city. And it is very important for everyone to reduce water consumption by 40%. Everyone should do this. I believe in your consciousness and hope that together we will overcome this test, as many others have overcome,” Vilkul concluded.

Recall that after the explosion of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station by the Russians The Black Sea began to desalinate, the salinity of the water near Odessa is almost three times below the norm.
