Kruiningen gets new fries factory of 200 million euros

The factory uses less water and energy when processing the potatoes. “It allows us to produce with fewer emissions. This is crucial to our sustainability strategy,” says Marc Schroeder, director of Lamb Weston.

“This new factory at our location in Kruiningen not only reflects our ambition to meet the growing demand for potato products in a sustainable way, it also demonstrates our commitment to our customers and growers by building on the benefits of this region.” The factory is close to the farmers who grow the potatoes and is easily accessible via the A58.

Lamb Weston/Meijer sells frozen potato products in more than a hundred countries. The company has seven production facilities that employ a total of 1,800 people.

The new factory is worth two hundred million. In 2019 the fries producer invested fifty million euros in a potato flake factory. Potato flakes are shreds of dried and pressed mashed potatoes.

The company hopes to have the new factory built in two years’ time.
