This time the Latvian Football Federation (LFF) Coaches Council nominated five candidates for the title of the best new player of the third round: Renārs Varslavāns (RFS), Krollis (“Valmiera”), Aleksejs Kudeļkins (“Daugavpils”), Lūkas Vapnis (“Metta”) and Maksims Tonishev (“Valmiera”).

Krollis was convincingly recognized as the best young player in the third round in the vote of journalists and coaches. The 19-year-old striker has already scored nine goals and made eight assists this season.

Krollis received 62 points in the voting, Vapne 53 points, Toņiševs 27, Kudeļkins 22 and Varslavāns 16. Krollis was also recognized as the best in the first two rounds.

Since 2015, the best new player of each round has been determined and welcomed in the Premier League championship. Candidates are nominated by the LFF Coaches Council, while the media and club head coaches participate in the vote. The most important criterion for receiving this prize is the age limit, ie the player must meet the U-21 age category.
