KRL tariffs want to increase to Rp 5,000, Anker screams

Jakarta

KRL fare Commuter Line will increase from IDR 3,000 to IDR 5,000 for the first 25 kilometers (km). The proposal is being discussed by the Directorate General of Railways at the Ministry of Transportation.

“Well, from the results of the survey, there is still a discussion stage. We will propose a tariff adjustment of approximately Rp. 2,000 for the first 25 km. So if it was originally Rp. 3,000 for 25 km, it becomes Rp. 5,000,” said the Head of Sub-Directorate for Network Arrangement and Development. Directorate of Railway Traffic and Transportation Directorate General of Railways, Ministry of Transportation, Arif Anwar in a virtual discussion, Wednesday (12/1/2022).

This news is a blow to the train crew (anker) who use this transportation every day. For Fadhly, for example, he considers this increase to be very pronounced and has an impact on his spending.

“I feel like the increase is pretty good. So if the PP goes to the office from the usual Rp. 6,000 to now Rp. 10,000, it is expensive,” he said when talking with detik.com.

According to him, if there is an increase KRL fare because it hasn’t been increased since 2015, the amount should have been smaller. “If there really needs to be an increase, it shouldn’t be this high,” he said.

Indra also said the same thing. As an anchor, he said that the increase in KRL rates was not appropriate when spending was being hit by the COVID-19 pandemic and rising food needs.

“In addition, it means that those who go up, I really object because the expenses automatically increase. Maybe for those who take the train 1-2 times it doesn’t feel like it, but if I multiply it every day, it’s pretty good,” he added.

Objection because KRL fare Ulfa also complained about going up. He said this increase must be accompanied by better service on trains. “Objection because expenses will increase again. Hopefully this increase will make the service on the train better,” he said.
