Kristýna Badinková Nováková: I probably won’t overcome Pelíšky anymore

It seems to me that you regularly alternate maternity leave with filming. What are you shooting after the birth of your third child now?

You’re right. Now, after the break caused by the birth of my son Vincent, I’m filming the series Třída. It is ten-part and is on the subject of covid. It takes place at an online class meeting between about fifteen parents. We actors are only visible through the screen.

The script is very humorously written, so I hope that just as we laugh at the stage, the audience will laugh. It is not a tragic, but on the contrary a light view of online teaching.

How did you adapt to the transfer of most activities to the household?

The first half of the year was really a purgatory. Last year, at the end of February, our baby was born, and the closures began in March. I was so looking forward to being able to take care of the third offspring when the older girls were at school and in circles! And suddenly we were all locked up at home!

It was a mess, the whole sixth week, and the running of the household. Not even for my girls (Rozárie 12, Mariana 8 let) it was not easy. They found it difficult to be at home, they missed their friends and other children.

Even if a beautiful role awaits me, children will always come first. And I wouldn’t hesitate

It took a long time before we went to the online teaching system and got somehow in order. But now we are all grateful for the baby that it makes us happy here.

Is it difficult to handle filming?

It’s not that difficult. The individual parts are short and shooting does not take long. It’s more a pleasure to relax from the domestic stereotype for a while and talk to someone else about something other than just learning or changing diapers. (Laughs)

She played Empress Elisabeth of Bavaria – Sissi in the series I, Mattoni.

Was it a difficult choice for you children or acting?

I’ve never built it this way. Everything comes naturally and children are born in a break when there are not so many offers. (Laughs) It almost always worked out that way, although at the time I was waiting for the girls, some decision was made. I had to reject the role because my belly was already growing. But family has always been more important to me.

Even if a beautiful role awaits me, children will always come first. And I wouldn’t hesitate.

Have your daughters seen you in Pelíšky yet?

Well, how many times! They’re still locked up at home because of the covid, so we’ve given them at least Netflix, where we pick movies for them. And they found out that there are also Lairs.

They started to go down them very often, even so that I had to walk down to dampen them. So that the neighbors don’t think I’m looking at it all the time myself. (Laughs) The girls really like the movie. As they get older, they understand more about those forums that didn’t tell them much before.

We shot in August in big buckets in a wooden studio. It was about to fall, and the staff was worried about Mr. Kodet

They also always watch at Christmas, and they see that they see me there as normal. Elder Rosa is interested in kissing someone there and asks what it was like.

And how do you see the lairs in retrospect? Are you annoyed that people still connect you with them, or is nostalgia prevailing?

I have a positive attitude towards them. I don’t mind that people associate me with this film to this day, even after twenty years. I’m proud of him. If someone calls me like Jindra on the street, he’s always a nice person.

When people got to know me on the basis of a series where I was two and a half years and went on television twice a week, it bothered me a little.

She showed up in Pelíšky when she was fifteen. “Mr. Kodet was kind to me, though he was quite upset.”

Was Mr. Kodet really as sharp as he was in front of the camera?

He was very kind to me. It’s true that he wasn’t in good health at the time of filming. We shot in August in great heat in a wooden studio in Barrandov. It was about to fall and the crew was worried about him.

How many times did he feel sick from the strain, as he had to keep screaming according to the script. The director Krejčík, about whom terrible stories are also told, was also nice to me. But they took me as a child and, on the contrary, advised me on how to play a certain situation. But not ugly that I have to be ashamed. I also remember Emilka Vášáryová very much.

What did that film actually mean for your next career?

It was not a turning point for me in the sense that I would then start filming more about knowledge. But it was and is my business card. The directors know me from Pelíšky and there is something to refer to. Someone asked me if I thought I could overcome Pelíšky and shoot something even better. I’m not sure about that.

How did you get into film at the age of twelve?

I went to a drama, which became a theater ensemble. We used to perform at Vyšehrad, where I was discovered by director Petr Koliha. He was looking for a girl similar to Anna Geislerová in the film Education of Girls in Bohemia. You scolded me there, and that’s how it started.

Other roles then gradually came on their own. I had a break in high school because I moved away from the field, otherwise I shoot continuously.

Temperament, fights, washing machines, quarrels, breakups and reconciliation are the themes of Crack on the Lagoon, in which he performs in Studio Two.

Didn’t you go to the conservatory?

I signed up for her, but they didn’t take me. So I studied something else, after school she was at home for a year, studying language and working as a flight attendant. I took the time to find out if I missed acting. And then I applied to DAMU. They took me there for the first time and it was a beautiful time.

Were you interested in tourism, for example, because you spent your childhood in Egypt?

No it does not. It was a coincidence. Since I wasn’t taken to the conservatory, I went to high school graphic. After a week, I decided that there was too much math and that I couldn’t do it. I quickly transferred to tourism high school because I enjoyed the field. And later I was glad to have my high school diploma.

It was such a beautiful childhood that it can’t even be described. There was everything a child could wish for in the area of the Egyptian embassy

How did you get to Egypt?

My dad is an X-ray technician by profession and was sent there with colleagues. The Czechs imported X-rays there and Dad assembled them in various towns and cities. The hospitals were not in good condition at the time.

“Someone asked me if I thought I could overcome Pelíšky and shoot something even better. I’m not sure about that, “says Kristýna.

What was your childhood like there?

It was such a beautiful childhood that it can’t even be described. I was there from the age of five to ten.

There was everything a child could wish for in the embassy complex. My dad remembers it differently. We almost didn’t see him because he was still gone, traveling all over Egypt. He was quite hit. But we from the families of these experts did very well.

In the area there was a kindergarten, school, clubs, swimming pool and tennis. So everything we needed and we didn’t get much behind the walls in a week. Only on the weekend did my parents and I go on trips to the sea. It was fine.

You recently remarried. Your husband Viktor is a choreographer and dancer and also the brother of the actress Míša Badinková. How did you meet?

We’ve known each other for a long time, someone once introduced us to a work party. About a year and a half later, I started filming Dark Region, where Viktor was a member of the crew. We were aware and then we realized we knew each other.

As a police chief, she worked in the crime series Dark Region.

You got a new family …

It’s great that other people who love us came to life for me and my daughters. I also thoroughly got to know the Slovak nature. Slovaks are even more cordial than Moravians. The hospitality is also huge for them.

What I managed to see in Slovakia, there are just all the warmer ones. And you can see it in the theater, which is different, more from the heart. I like it very much. It’s new to me and sometimes I envy them.

Are you going there

As soon as possible. We already have a big abstract, on both sides. The husband is sorry that his grandmother and grandfather do not see the little one grow up. We are in contact only through WhatsApp.

How do you spend your free time if you have one with three children?

I like to go for long walks, now mainly with a pram. When the children fall asleep in the evening, after the all-day rumble, I like to watch at least the first part of the new series and pour myself a drink.
