Kristoffer Broberg won the European Tour after a track record

The victory was founded during Saturday’s fantastic round on the Cromvoirt course when Broberg set a new course record with 61 strokes, eleven under par.

– There is smoke about the putter, Broberg then told TT after the big game.

Sunday’s game was not near it. It was about to become a real nail-biter when the Swede’s lead shrank alarmingly.

On the twelfth hole, Kristoffer Broberg was on his way to a triple bogey, but a deceptive shot went straight into the hole and it became “just” a bogey.

The German Mattias Schmid and also the Spaniard Alejandro Canizares approached. But a birdie on the 17th hole in practice secured the victory and Broberg landed on a total of three strokes better than Mattias Schmid.

Broberg thus took home the price check of 166,660 euros, 1.7 million kronor.

Kristoffer Broberg’s first victory on the European tour came in the BMW Masters in Shanghai 2015. Since then, his career has been fraught with major injury problems in, among other things, back and hip, but a successful operation in Gothenburg got him back on track.

Therefore, it was both joy and relief that Broberg felt after the victory at Cromvoirt near s’Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands.

– I’m sorry … I can not talk. It has been six years of hell, said a crying Broberg during the victory interview.

Before the Dutch Open, the Stockholmer from Haninge GK was in 154th place in the Race to Dubai, the European Tour ranking.

When Kristoffer Broberg won in Shanghai, he took the 100th Swedish men’s victory on the European Tour. Now that number is up to 113 and this was the first Swedish tour winner since 2019 (Sebastian Söderberg).
