Unrest in the stands on several occasions.
Kristianstads IK now bans flags, banners and drums in the hall.
– We want to avoid that someone hides behind large typhoons and starts a fire, says security manager Jan Svensson Kristianstadsbladet.
The measures are taken after repeated incidents in the stands. On October 28, the match between Kristianstad and Tingsryd was interrupted after someone threw in a hard shot, which landed near goalkeeper Daniel Rosengren.
Last week, when the teams clashed again, albeit in Småland, it got rowdy just before the start of the match.
Pyrotechnics were lit and the fire alarm went off as a result of the smoke. Then the entire section where the Kristianstad supporters stood was forced to leave the hall, according to Kristianstadsbladet.
“The ban applies until further notice”
Now KIK has taken measures, hours before Friday night’s match against Karlskoga, which ended with a 2-5 loss for the Skåne.
”Due to previous incidents, it will be prohibited from today, 17/2, to bring flags, banners and drums into Kristianstad’s ice rink. The ban applies until further notice until new directives are issued. According to the regulations, we have to take these measures”, they write on their website.
The club’s head of security Jan Svensson about the decision:
– With the background that that possibility exists, the association and the Swedish Ice Hockey Federation have made that decision to avoid someone hiding behind big typhoons and starting fires. That is the only motive, he tells Kristianstadsbladet.
