Kristalina Georgieva – European Commissioner. A bum’s dream come true –

/ world today news/ Bulgarian media covered up scandalous revelations of “Sun” about Georgieva’s travels

The title of the article in “Sleep”

Ten days ago, a scandalous article about Kristalina Georgieva appeared on the website of the British Sun, which did not find a place in the Bulgarian media. The article is titled as follows: “Wandering” Eurocrat blows money on 16 foreign business trips and meetings with celebrities like Shakira”. In it, author Harry Cole writes the following: “An inept Eurocrat who failed to stop £5.02 billion of taxpayers’ money was wasted has traveled the world to meet celebrities and UN darlings.

Constantly traveling around the world, the Bulgarian European Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva is responsible for the 112 billion budget of the European Union. But he’s pushing him with his own foreign travel expenses –

they are 16 in the past seven months alone, and her destinations include addresses such as Dubai, Ethiopia, Washington and New York to meet stars of the caliber of pop singer Shakira. At the same time, auditors in the EU are quite embarrassed by the discovery of a 4.4 percent deficit – totaling more than 5.02 billion pounds (just over 7 billion euros) – in the budget for the past year 2015. In November, Georgieva, vice-president of the European Commission in charge of budget and human resources, announced: “The money of the European Union belongs to our citizens, therefore we are obliged to spend their every euro meaningfully.”

Against this background, she has an extended team of 16 regulars and collects over £200,000 a year in salaries,” the author of the article in “The Sun” noted and continued: “Tipped as a future UN Secretary-General, Georgieva posed for photographs in America in November with singer Shakira and former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown. He also met former Labor leader and Foreign Secretary David Miliband.

From last June until now, Georgieva has visited Luxembourg twice, Paris, Austria, Geneva, Spain, London, Greece, the United Arab Emirates and Ethiopia. In addition, she has four visits to New York and two to Washington, spending a total of 17 days in the United States. British Tory MEP David Campbell Bannerman, who raised the issue of Georgieva’s absence officially with the European Commission, told The Sun: “It seems strange that a European Commissioner who is responsible for the budget and human resources should fly to New York, Washington and Ethiopia to to fulfill his duties in the Commission. What does this have to do with human resources and the budget, other than its spending?”.

What the article in the popular British publication does not say, but what is implied, is that Kristalina Georgieva ran her personal campaign for UN Secretary General with the money of European taxpayers. Well-informed diplomatic sources told me that Georgieva’s colleagues at the European Commission were quite scandalized by her arrogant behavior. Especially since her candidacy was never officially promoted by the Bulgarian side.

And that’s the biggest scandal in my opinion. The insidious way in which Kristalina Georgieva tried to present herself as a Bulgarian candidate for one of the most prestigious posts in world politics, putting at risk the official Bulgarian candidacy in the person of Irina Bokova, who, on top of that, has a real chance of success. It is clear from the article in “Sun” that Georgieva started her personal campaign with the money of the European taxpayers already in the summer of last year.

According to all serious observers, she has no chance for two objective reasons – because she is a current European Commissioner, which violates the balance that is sought when electing a Secretary General, and because Irina Bokova currently heads UNESCO (a UN organization), so another Bulgarian is unthinkable to take a leadership position in the UN system. It follows that the only goal of Kristalina Georgieva is to fail someone else’s candidacy, not to impose her own. Selfish and unworthy. At the same time, her selfishness comes across rather salty to all European taxpayers, as the article in the “Sleep” makes clear, and seriously exposes our country.

However, why the Bulgarian media is silent on this issue is a topic for a separate comment. This plot is for leading news on any television. As well as a topic for serious investigation. However, it is another thing to preoccupy people with domestic murders and accidents that have happened and will happen every day. I can imagine what the editions of “America for Bulgaria” would write if the name of Irina Bokova was involved in such a scandal. What lectures on morality and the history of communism we would read for weeks. However, they are silent about Kristalina, because together with Rosen Plevneliev they are from the “good BKP”. They may be communists, but they are our communists – this is their hypocritical logic.

On this occasion, I thought of another plot from the biography of the Bulgarian European Commissioner. I have not heard that Kristalina Georgieva filed a lawsuit against Velizar Enchev for his claims that she is connected to the DS. She threatened to do so a few months ago, but she doesn’t seem to care about it. Now to it is added the subject of European money, which he squandered because of his personal ambition. Two serious questions that should be asked to her continuously instead of the powdered reports about her bureaucratic Eurocratic existence.
