“In recent years, Krišjānis Zeļģis’ poetry has become even more precise and capacious.
In the ten years since the publication of the first collection, Zeļģis has become a significant voice in Latvian poetry, and his voice is sounding more and more convincing also outside Latvia – it is the publishers who write about the poet.
The collection of poems “Zvēri” (“Neputns”, 2016) has been translated and published in Catalan and English, a German edition will be published soon. A selection of Zelga’s poems has also been published in Russian under the title “Я такими глупостями больше не занимаюсь” (Арго-Риск, Moscow, 2016). Zelgi’s poetry is included in anthologies in Greek, English, Lithuanian and other languages (“Ανθολογία Νέων Λετονών Ποιητών”, “Europoe – An anthology of 21st century innovative European poetry”, “Poetry Spring Anthology”).
The author himself says about the collection: “Reflections on individual behavior in society, written and unwritten laws, the importance of memories in the development of our personalities and how to live with the meaninglessness of life, which is often very beautiful – all form the collection” Beauty “.
The editor of the collection “The Presence of Beauty” is Kārlis Vērdiņš, the artist – Paulis Liep.
