(Borussia Mönchengladbach – Real Madrid 2–2) Borussia Mönchengladbach shocked Real Madrid, and took a well-deserved point against the giants. Now Real Madrid is last in the group.
After a loss in the first match, and a loss of points in the next, Real Madrid has got into trouble in what was apparently an affordable group with Inter, Shakhtar Donetsk and Mönchengladbach. A strong comeback on the butt saved them Tuesday night.
In the first match, they were occasionally beaten against Shakhtar, and were below 3-0 after the first half. They finally fought back to an honorable 3-2 loss, and on Tuesday night it was going very wrong again.
Mönchengladbach took advantage of a mistake in the Real Madrid defense. Alassane Plea put in a brilliant pass to Marcus Thuram, who easily put in 1-0.
In the second half, the same duo struck again. Plea fired from distance, and Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois had to return. Thuram waited there, doubling the lead.
Thuram is also the son of former European champion and world champion with France, Lillian Thuram, who played for Real Madrid’s arch-rival Barcelona from 2006-2008.
