After nine years, she got the chance to return to the crime series that made her famous. The holder of Thalia once again jumped on the train called Kriminálka Anděl, where she plays, at first glance, a quiet but capable psychologist who tries to understand everyone around her. But sometimes he forgets himself.
Paralyzed face
Even after all the health problems she experienced, filming was no different for her. “It’s exactly the same for me. It feels like we were shooting the last series yesterday, and not so many years ago.” revealed the actress, who until three years ago was struggling with a paralyzed face and was afraid to accept roles because of it. She heard the cruel diagnosis at the peak of her career, and also shortly after the birth of her son Jan. It all started with very strong headaches. “The pain was so excruciating, it was like a knife being thrust into your brain,” she described on Czech Radio.
Alternative treatment
She found out that it wasn’t just migraines just before the performance – the right half of her tongue became paralyzed. She played the game anyway. However, she ended up in the hospital the very next day. It was 2017 and doctors unfortunately diagnosed her with cancer of the lymphatic system. She immediately underwent four phases of chemotherapy, but just before the fifth series, she decided to take an alternative route. She signed a refusal of classical treatment, became interested in a healthy diet, and when her body allowed it, she learned to practice yoga and began to take care of herself. In order to get into complete rest mode, she broke up with her partner, moved into a small studio apartment and devoted herself only to herself.
A chase with a shootout
She’s even doing so well now that she wasn’t even afraid to go into action scenes in the series! “I got into the action in the first episodes. I enjoyed the chase and shootout there, and I didn’t even have a doubler this time. I worked with stuntmen and relearned how to hold a gun or how to run. I even got compliments from stuntmen that my jumping looked believable. Even for us actors, not only for the audience, action shooting is fun, we will enjoy it,” she revealed that she herself does not follow criminals in private. “Honestly, I don’t have time to watch them. Somehow there is no time for that,” she described.
New parts with the old bunch
The sixteen new episodes of Kriminálka Anděl, like the previous ones, are loosely inspired by real cases or real police files. And this time there is something to look forward to! After nine years, the good old mordparta returns, and they reunite Marek Taclík (50) alias Major Oliver Hein, David Švehlík (51) as captain Tomáš Beňkovský and Michal Novotný (44) as Ruda Uhlíř. “Let’s say the first four parts directed by Petr Bebjak (52) were probably the most difficult for me. Probably the most in the entire time the series has been running. And it was fun, I enjoyed it. On top of that, it was cold, so at least you had some movement.” revealed Švehlík, who will be joined by his wife and stepdaughter Hana in the series. In addition to popular characters, viewers can also look forward to newcomers. “Jirka also joined us Langmayer, Oskar Hess, it was, I must say, very pleasant indeed. And I almost forgot about Dalibor Gondík. I would be sorry…” added the son of Alois Švehlík (84).
