KrF Deputy Leader Race: Battle between Political Talents with Different Values

The selection committee has selected Ida Lindtveit Røse (30). She is from Oppegård in Viken, and a former KrFU leader.

Røse is highlighted as a political talent and she was the country’s youngest cabinet minister when she acted as minister for children and families in 2020.

But just a few days before the national meeting, Jorunn Gleditsch Lossius (43) from Agder announced that she is taking up the fight for the position of deputy leader.

The two candidates have different values in several areas.

– Follow the setting

During the debate, there are several who advocate that the national meeting should follow the election committee’s recommendation.

– If we are in any doubt, follow the selection committee. That might be good advice. I am very proud of the election committee and the people who have been nominated. For a CV and for some people, said Bjørn Lande from Østfolk KrF.

Geirmund Lykke, county leader in Trøndelag, pointed out that the party lacks participation from the whole country and that it is very important to make sure that Eastern Norway, Central Norway and Northern Norway still have a role in the party.

Ida Lindtveit Røse is from Viken, while Jorunn Gleditsch Lossius is from Agder.

Abortion central issue

While Røse is considered liberal, Lossius is referred to as more conservative. Especially on the issue of abortion, it is highlighted that the two have different opinions.

Røse will maintain the current abortion law, and says yes to abortion up to week 12. Lossius is equally clear that she believes the current law should be tightened.

– I am very clear that abortion will always be about two people, and that children in the womb have independent human dignity and deserve stronger legal protection, says Jorunn Gleditsch Lossius.

Thus, precisely the issue of abortion may become important when the national assembly has to choose between the two today. According to what NRK is experiencing, it can be even.

Get up to speed on KrF

The election committee’s candidate, Ida Lindtveit Røse, has announced that she wants to develop a new policy, strengthen the organization and secure new recruitment in order to speed up KrF again.

Jorunn Gleditsch Lossius, on the other hand, is keen to take care of the party’s “distinctive character in terms of values”.

The battle between the two will be decided at the national meeting in Hamar on Saturday morning.

Furthermore, Olaug Bollestad is set to continue leading KrF, together with incumbent deputy Dag Inge Ulstein.
