The Russian delegation has arrived in Belarus for talks with Ukrainian representatives, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Sunday.
“According to the agreement reached, the Russian delegation, consisting of representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defense and other institutions, including the presidential administration, has arrived in Belarus to negotiate with the Ukrainians. We will be ready to start these talks in Gomel,” Peskov said.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has reportedly twice called on Putin to sit down at the negotiating table.
He initially made the offer in a speech to Putin on Wednesday night, shortly before the Russian invasion began, but on Friday, as Russian troops approached Kiev, he again called on the aggressor to negotiate to stop the deaths.
Meanwhile, Peskov announced on Friday afternoon that Putin was ready to send his delegation to Minsk for talks with Ukraine.
