Kremlin Propagandists Issue Threats on Russian Television: This Time Finland is Targeted

Kremlin propagandists continue to issue threats on comedy shows on Russian television. This time, Finland came under their sights.

Alexey Zhuravlev, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee, said on Rossiya 1’s “60 Minutes” program that the Finns had banned Russian cars from entering, but had made no mention of tanks.

His threat was made because of Finland’s ban on the entry of cars with Russian license plates. Finland is the NATO member country with the longest common border with Russia. Helsinki requested to join the Alliance because of Putin’s military aggression against Ukraine.

Zhuravlev did not commit to a prediction of when the Russian tanks should reach Helsinki. Russia planned to have its tanks in Kiev for three days, but has failed to achieve this goal for 575 days now. Only Russian trophy tanks, which were displayed on the central “Kreshchatyk” boulevard, reached the Ukrainian capital.

Making groundless threats is a frequently used strategy by the Kremlin, which aims to reduce Western unity and, accordingly, support for Ukraine against the Russian aggressor.

Due to the unprovoked invasion of Ukraine, Finland abandoned its policy of neutrality, which it had maintained for decades, and in 2023 became the newest member of NATO to guarantee security.
