Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko is expected to pay a visit to Russia in the coming days, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday.
“Preparations are in full swing. Generally speaking, this can be expected in the coming days. We will inform you in time,” Peskov said.
Protests have been going on in Belarus for a month, demanding Lukashenko’s resignation. He is accused of falsifying the results of the August 9 presidential election in order to stay in power.
Lukashenko has sought support in Moscow, which has also recently shown increased support for the Lukashenko regime.
