According to the representatives of the concert hall “Delfi”, the concert program will include several compositions dedicated especially to the chamber orchestra, as well as the music of Gidon Kremer’s collaborator Georg Pelētis – in honor of the composer’s 75th anniversary.
For the first time, “Kremerata Baltica” and the special guest of the anniversary concert – Adam Kośmieja, a young Polish piano player who has already made his debut in New York’s Carnegie Hall, will release a solo album with the prestigious record company “Warner Classics” reviewer reviews around the world.
The first part of the concert will feature Alfred Schnittke’s Concerto for Piano and Strings, for the interpretation of which Cosme has earned special acclaim. “The opus, rarely played in concert halls, lies between darkness and light, traveling in time from Russian Orthodox singing to jazz intonation, looking for answers to the eternal questions about human existence and the limitations of life,” the concert organizers wrote.
The second part of the program will be dedicated to the 75th anniversary of George Pelec. Georg Pelet’s ambassador for music is his classmate and schoolmate Gidon Kremerto whom Gray has dedicated many of his compositions. It is Kremer who deserves to have Pelic’s music reach the international level.
The program includes “Peony in Dance” for vibraphone and strings, composition “Astor Piacolla, Oskar Stroke and I (Buena Riga)” (2001), as well as “Concertino Bianco” for piano and strings.
The festive evening will be complemented by several compositions dedicated to Kremerata – Jēkabs Jančevskas’ suggestive conversation with the trees “Lignum” and the narration of mystery, the creator of sophisticated concepts, chamber orchestra double bassist Kristaps Pētersons – “Music for a Great Ensemble”.
Founded in 1997 by the famous violinist Gidon Kremer and highly regarded by music lovers and critics, the Kremerata Baltica Chamber Orchestra is considered to be one of Europe’s most capable international ensembles. The orchestra has performed in more than 50 countries around the world and its specially selected repertoire has been recorded on several CDs, which have received prestigious awards.
Mikhail Weinberg’s recording was nominated for a 2015 Grammy Award, while Shostakovich’s piano concert, recorded in collaboration with Anna Binnitskaya, won the ECHO Klassik Award in 2016, while Weinberg’s 2nd and 21st Symphony Records were produced in collaboration with the City of Birmingham. symphony orchestra and Mirga Gražinyte-Tylu, won the Gramophone Award in 2020.
