The program includes a number of compositions dedicated specifically to the chamber orchestra, as well as music by Georg Pelēt, a contemporary of Gidon Kremer, in honor of the composer’s forthcoming 75th anniversary.
In concert with Kremerata Baltica young Polish pianist Adam Cosmey, who has already made his debut at the Carnegie Hall in New York, will release a solo album Warner Classics under the wing and get enthusiastic reviews from around the world.
In the first part of the evening, Adam Cosmey will play Alfred Schnittke’s Concerto for piano and strings. This relatively rarely played opus lies between darkness and light, traveling in time from Russian Orthodox chanting to jazz intonation in search of answers to the eternal questions of human existence and the limitations of life.
The second part of the program will be dedicated to the music of Georges Pelecs, an idealist and researcher of good sound. Georg Pelet’s creative ambassador to the world is his schoolmate Gidon Kremer, to whom Gray devoted much work. Listeners will be able to appreciate the magic of flowers Peony dance for vibraphone and strings, opus Astors Pjacolla, Oskars Stroks and I (Buena Riga) – a dream in the form of fantasy, in which the tango melodies of Buenos Aires meet the themes of Oscar Stroke, the king of Latvian tango, as well as the vitality and bright joy White concertino for piano and strings.
The festive evening will be complemented by several special orchestras Kremerata Baltica dedicated compositions – Jēkabs Jančevskas suggestive conversation with trees Lignum and the narration of the chamber orchestra’s double bassist Kristaps Peterson Music for a great ensemble.
