Barbora Krejčíková last year at the turn of September and October, at the French Open, she finally broke through in singles and thanks to advancing to the round of 16, she won her debut in the elite hundred of the WTA rankings. Since then, the 25-year-old Czech has continued to rise in world rankings and currently ranks 33rd.
In the Roland Garros complex, she is absolutely fantastic following the last general in Strasbourg, where she won her premiere title on the highest circuit. After the turn against Kristýna Plíšková without losing the set, she lost Ekaterina Alexandrovová, world number one Elina Svitolinová, today she swept 6-2 6-0 the defeats of Karolína Plíšková and Karolína Muchová Sloane Stephensovou and has stretched its current winning streak to nine matches.

Krejčíková had the match with the finalist of the year 2018 under control from the beginning, she played confidently and did not spoil too much. Stephens wasn’t as dangerous as against Plíšková and Muchová, she moved worse today and made a lot of mistakes. Tactically well-prepared, Krejčíková averted all three breakballs, even lost only four fiffins in the opening set, gave the 2017 US Open winner a “canary” and celebrated the promotion in just 67 minutes.
“Sloane is a great player. I watched her a few years ago when she played well and won the grand slam. It was hard today, but I made less mistakes,” said Krejčíková.
She didn’t want to talk about Stephens’ tactics in detail. “I’m still in the tournament, but I knew I had to play my game and be aggressive. Sloane was the favorite and I expected him to send me high lift balls, which happened. But I played smarter and I think I’m all important “She handled the ball very well. That was the key. If I didn’t do it, it would be even. I immediately hit her, got into the lead and relaxed,” said Krejčíková.
“I am extremely happy. I played well, I enjoyed the match. It’s fun to play here. I’m already looking forward to the next one,” said Krejčíková on the court. “Thanks for the support. I hope you had a good time and come to my next match,” she told the fans in the stands.

The last Czech representative in singles, Krejčíková, will face the first grand slam quarterfinals Cori Gauffové, with which he will face for the first time.
The 17-year-old American lost 6-3 6-1 Ons Jabur in just 53 minutes, retaliated for her recent defeat in Charleston, and was also among the top eight in the grand slams. The winner of the 2018 junior is also riding in a winning wave of nine matches, before the Paris grand slam in Parma she won her second title.
Gauff has been the youngest French Open quarterfinalist since 2006 (Nicole Vaidis, semifinals), the youngest American French Open quarterfinalist since 1993 (Jennifer Capriati) and the youngest American grand slam quarterfinalist since the 1997 US Open (Venus Williams).
“I played doubles against her. She’s young, amazing, she’s going up and she’s a future star. I’m going to the court to have fun, enjoy it and play my best. I’ll play doubles first, then we’ll come up with tactics and get ready,” Krejčíková said.

Trthe one-time Australian Open winner lost the mix match for the first time in a series of 16 wins.
With Kateřina Siniaková, Krejčíková is still continuing in the women’s doubles, on Tuesday the number two will compete in the quarterfinals with sisters Karolína and Kristýna Plíšková.
