In the first round, however, in the men’s competition, Tomáš Macháč finished by losing twice 4:6 against the Korean Kwon Sun-u. The first set was decided by a 4:4 lost serve, in the second the 22-year-old Czech tennis player squandered a 3:1 lead.
Two-time Roland Garros winner Krejčíková last year won her first singles match of the season in two hours and five minutes. The Brno native, who injured his wrist at the end of last year, won the first set thanks to three breaks. In the second set, he didn’t convert a match point at 5: 4, but consolidated progress in a shortened game. Here he dominated 7: 3.
Her longtime doubles partner Siniaková was on the court just 44 minutes after her successful qualifier. She won the first set against Potapova thanks to six consecutive match wins. At the beginning of the second set the opponent called a physiotherapist and after a brief consultation he withdrew from the match.

Lehecka defeated Brazilian Monteiro in the first round in Auckland
Czech tennis player Jiří Leheček defeated Brazilian Thiago Monteiro 6:3, 7:5 in the first round in Auckland. He will play tournament number two Cameron Norrie of Great Britain to advance to the quarter-finals.
The 21-year-old Lehečka did not break serve once in the match with Monteiro and faced only one break point. He finished the match between qualifiers after one hour and 29 minutes and will play in the third quarterfinal on the ATP circuit of his career.
In the second round, his opponent will be 2019 tournament finalist Norrie. So far, Lehečka has only faced the 27-year-old Briton once, losing last year in the Davis Cup to the current player 12th in the world.
Defending champion Ugo Humbert said goodbye to the tournament. The French tennis player lost twice 6:7 against the American Christopher Eubanks. Humbert won the first title of his career in Auckland in 2020, not playing for the next two years due to the coronavirus.
