Krefeld He has a wonderful tenor voice, a lot of humor and can walk on high heels. The native Korean James Park has many stage talents. The Austrian music world has also discovered this.
(ped) How this man can walk in high heels without looking ridiculous, how he changes clothes in no time and sings wonderfully: James Park proved that in “The Golden Dragon” on the local theater stage. At that time he was still one of the most promising talents in the opera studio. In the meantime, the Viennese music world has also become aware of the tenor: From November he will sing in the musical “Miss Saigon” at the Raimund Theater in the Austrian capital.

Park has landed one of the coveted solo roles in the moving love story between the young Vietnamese Kim and the American GI Chris. For around 30 years, musical fans all over the world have raved about “Miss Saigon”. James Park takes on the role of Kim’s cousin Thuy. His stage death is one of the great dramatic moments of the musical.

During this season James Park can be seen as a guest singer at the community theater – among others in the musical gala “The Show Must Go On”, in Mozart’s “Magic Flute”, in the musical “Sunset Boulevard” and in the musical drama “Salome”.

Incidentally, “Welt am Sonntag” nominated James Park as the best young singer in North Rhine-Westphalia for the role of “Young Asian” in Peter Eötvös’ music theater “Der goldene Drache”. Park was born in Korea, but has lived in Germany with his family since 2004. He also completed his Abitur here in 2010 and then studied at the Robert Schumann University in Düsseldorf – first in the class of Prof. Michail Lanskoi, and later with Prof. Konrad Jarnot.

Park has participated in smaller ensembles and larger choir formations. For example with the “Chorwerk Ruhr” for the “Ruhrtriennale 2011” or with the first recording of Ferdinand Ries’ opera “Die Räuberbraut” in the WDR radio choir. The people of Krefeld experienced him at the open-air operettas “in espresso format” in front of the Schwanenmarkt.
