(svs) When the Krefeld Ravens take on the Münster Mammuts on Sunday at 3 p.m., they are the big favorites. The Krefelders won all the games in the first half of the season and are going into the second half of the season with a flawless slate. In Münster, the team wants to build on at least the performance from the first leg (48:12). A newcomer who arrived at the weekend should help: Treydonte Hill. The offensive all-rounder can play all offensive positions, but is primarily a wide receiver and running back. “I play where the team needs me. I just want to be successful with the team,” says the 27-year-old sprinter from Nashville, Tennessee (USA).

Sprinter is to be taken quite literally. “Trey has at the Combine [einer Art Leistungsschau] the US professional league XFL put a time of 4.2 seconds for 40 yards. That’s just outstanding. In training, he also shows how incredibly fast he is,” says Raven’s sports director Dino Volpe, who retired as coach of the running backs in the summer and is now concentrating his energies on board work and the role as sports director.

The previous offense coordinator Francesco Mavaro, who once had great success as a ball carrier and was an Italian international, will take over his role as coach. Jonas Beckmann takes over his role as responsible for the offensive. The former first division player is retiring because his body is no longer able to cope as desired. “I will certainly act a little differently than Franci or Bolle [der heutige Headcoach Jörg Hintzen] before,” says the physical education and biology teacher. For Hintzen he is a perfect fit for the position. “Jonas is a quiet guy with enormous expertise. I’m excited to see how he acts in the role, but I’m very relaxed,” he says.

In the meantime, advance sales have started for what will probably be the decisive game for promotion against the Wuppertal Greyhounds (September 17). It is the first Ravens game in the Grotenburg.
