Krefeld. The Krefeld city administration wants to warn of the dangers of the coronavirus with short videos in several languages. The messages spoken by nine citizens are disseminated via the YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter channels. In times of high infection rates, this is intended to directly reach those fellow citizens whose first language is not German. “The coronavirus remains dangerous,” is the introductory message. In the short speech sequences, attention is drawn to the most important rules: Keep your distance, hygiene, everyday mask, ventilation and the Corona warning app will remain the most important recipes against the spread of the pandemic in the coming months. The videos are also used to promote social cohesion among all citizens in these difficult times: “We as Krefelders are strong together. Even if we currently have to keep our distance, we stick together. “

The municipal department “Press and Communication” created the videos together with the municipal integration center (KI). For this purpose, the KI was looking for speakers who could spread the appeal in different languages. The message is transported in English, French, Turkish, Russian, Arabic, Farsi, Romanian, Bulgarian – and at the end again in German. The small films were shot around the town house on Konrad-Adenauer-Platz. The film can be seen in its entirety on the YouTube portal – the various languages can be selected in the current video using a skip function.

In addition to administrative staff such as Dr. Tagrid Yousef, head of the KI, and Sandra Franz, head of the Nazi documentation center Villa Merländer, also take part in Krefeld’s representatives from associations and migrant organizations. With Dr. Silvia Fiebig, a woman from New Krefeld speaks the appeal in German. She has been working at the KI for a few weeks and came from Freiburg im Breisgau to the silk city of Krefeld.
