Krefeld. The Krefeld Pinguine will not take any legal action after the sporting relegation from the German Ice Hockey League.
The DEL founding member announced that they would refrain from going before the DEL arbitration board. “Ultimately, we wanted to avoid a lengthy and costly legal dispute that might have had little chance of success,” said Managing Director Sergei Savelyev.

But he reiterated: “In our opinion, there shouldn’t have been a relegation this season either, because the Corona situation has had a serious impact on the competition.” Because of the allegation of “distortion of competition”, the two-time champion had announced that he would go to the arbitration court after being relegated after 31 years of first class. The last sporting relegation were the Kassel Huskies 16 years ago.
The waiver of the legal dispute now gives the Krefeld at least planning security. “The certainty that we belong to the league now makes this planning and our talks concrete,” said Savelyev: “We can prepare for the season in the DEL2 with all our heart and put together a squad that will enable us to quickly get back to where we are we belong.”
