Krefeld The other 13 clubs in the 2nd ice hockey league, like the Krefeld team, can also start under certain conditions. Branch manager Karsten Holderberg was able to dispel all concerns.

After extensive examinations, the German Ice Hockey League 2 (DEL2) has completed the license examination procedure for the 2022/23 season. All sportingly qualified DEL2 clubs from the previous season were able to confirm the continued existence of the license. In addition, the league welcomes the sporty relegated from the DEL in its ranks. The Krefeld Pinguine have received a license for the second highest league, as has the sporty climber from the Oberliga, the Eisbären Regensburg.

The Löwen Frankfurt are the sporty climbers in the DEL and will be the 15th team to compete in the first division. Thus, the second division starts the new season with 14 clubs – and this will be a very special one. Because when the hunt for points begins on Friday, September 16th, the starting signal will also be given for the tenth DEL2 season.

For the first time, the positions of the clubs in the game plan, which are elementary for the fixtures, are drawn live for the design of the game plan. This can be followed via Facebook Live on Thursday 7 July at 7pm. As part of the draw, there are already initial tendencies as to what the game plan (initially as a working version for the locations) will look like for the individual clubs. The final plan will then be finalized in mid-July.

René Rudorisch, Managing Director of DEL2, said on Thursday about the licensing: “This year, the licensing procedure was not an easy task for the clubs either. Due to the Corona help in professional sports, a special consideration took place. The values for the 2019/2020 season minus 20 percent were used for ticket revenues for this season. In the case of sponsoring income, the values from the previous year were recognized at most. The testing effort and the exchange with the clubs were correspondingly high. But all clubs have overcome these hurdles. We are now looking forward to an exciting anniversary season. I would like to express my thanks for the support during the license examination from our consulting tax office Freihof partnership and the supervisory board of the league.”

According to information from our newspaper, not all 14 clubs should have received the license without problems and conditions, including the Krefeld. In the club’s press release, the words of branch manager Karsten Holderberg convey a corresponding sense of relief: “Exciting and long nights lie behind us. Right up to the end, those responsible at DEL2 put our license documents through their paces. We are all the happier that, thanks to the close cooperation with our partners, we were able to resolve all concerns and can now concentrate fully on the sport. We are optimistic about the new season and hope for a successful season with new opponents, challenges and goals.” The anticipation of the KEV fans can increase.
