In addition to his national team career, which includes several world championships and an Olympic participation, Lewandowski can look back on a successful club career. In Mannheim, the winger, who was born in Krasnoturyinsk, Russia, became German champion in the 2006/07 season and was a regular guest at the DEL All-Star Game between 2003 and 2008. After seven years in the KHL, the German-Russian returned to the DEL to the Düsseldorfer EG in 2015. Between 2018 and 2021 Lewandowski went on the ice in the DEL 2 for the Löwen Frankfurt.

David Trinkberger comes from the talent factory of EV Landshut. In 2014 he made the leap to North America and signed on with the Muskegon Lumberjacks before moving to the Sioux City Musketeers during the season. His time in USHL ended in 2016 when he joined the University of Alaska-Anchorage in the NCAA and spent a total of four years in the college program. During this time, the 1.96 meter tall defender not only gained match practice, but also completed his bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

In 2020 he returned to Germany and received a contract with the Nuremberg Ice Tigers. The well-known move to Düsseldorfer EG followed last season. There, the 25-year-old scored six points (two goals, four assists) in 49 appearances including play-offs and was characterized by calm, stable defensive behavior.

“David is a strong, young, German defender. Despite his size, he is a good and agile skater, who is characterized by his safe positional play. David has a very positive attitude and is a very intelligent player. We are convinced that he will continue to improve his game with us on both sides of the ice,” says Saveljev. Trinkberger is looking forward to his new challenge: “Krefeld is a location with tradition and I would like to help bring the club back into the top league. For several years it has been observed that the penguins are increasingly relying on young German players and that they get a lot of ice age here. During our conversations, Sergey repeatedly conveyed to me that this will also be his philosophy in the future. So I’m optimistic that I can improve my game significantly here. I see myself as a strong defender, but I definitely want to develop my offensive skills as well.”
