Krefeld / Cologne – You have it! After 14 years on the run, the multiple bank robber Rahim D. (52) was caught.

Rahim D. had escaped from the prison in Krefeld on October 12, 2007 in a hitherto unexplained manner. There he was in custody after two bank robberies.

In September 2007 he was sentenced to seven years in prison by the Krefeld district court.

A few days after escaping from the Krefeld prison, he was located in Istanbul. As a Turkish citizen, his extradition to German law enforcement authorities was out of the question. In 2016, the Augsburg District Court issued another arrest warrant for various bank robberies from 2015/2016.

He is said to have committed attacks on banks in Aachen, Düren (both North Rhine-Westphalia), Bad Münster, Kirchen / Sieg (both Rhineland-Palatinate) and Augsburg (Bavaria). He even took hostages.

D. is considered a master of hiding. He should use his skills during the robberies and regularly lock himself up in bank branches in the evening and then ambush the staff the next morning.

As a result of long-term search activities, his entry into Germany via Austria could be traced. He was finally arrested in Cologne.
