(ped) The Niederrheinische Sinfoniker come home as often as possible during these weeks. Because the live concerts have been canceled since November, they are trying to enable classical music enjoyment via live stream. This applies not only to the 4th symphony concert, which would actually have been scheduled for Tuesday, February 2nd, but also to children’s and chamber concerts.

On Sunday, January 31, there will be free brass chamber music on the Youtube channel of Theater Krefeld Mönchengladbach from 11 a.m. Jonathan de Weerd and Ansgar Brinkmann (both: trumpet), Ai Kohatsu (horn), Berten Claeys, Hilma Schultz and Andreas Meier-Krüger (all: trombone) as well as Bernhard Petz (tuba) appear in different formations from trio to quintet.

The program includes “Triptyque” for three trombones by Fernand Desprez. Solo trombonist Berten Claeys raves: “It is without a doubt one of the best chamber music pieces that have ever been written for the trombone.” The brass quintet by Victor Ewald follows.

Two other works with brass, which were already recorded in the first lockdown, can also be found on the theater’s YouTube channel. On the program: Francis Poulenc’s sonata for horn, trumpet and trombone and Arthur Meulemans’ Trio for horn, trumpet and trombone. Music: Cyrill Gussaroff (trumpet), Cecilie Marie Schwagers and Katja Slootmaekers (both: horn) and Berten Claeys (trombone).

The 3rd children’s concert is called “Mensch, Haydn”. It should also be shown free of charge on the YouTube channel from mid-February. And for the 4th symphony concert with a pure Schubert program, February 6 is planned as the broadcast date. It is available on classic.nl/konzertzuwohnungen for a fee. Information on these streams will follow.
