KRC Genk steal Eddy Vanhemel from OH Leuven. In Limburg he will work as head of football and coach development.
KRC Genk announced the arrival of Eddy Vanhemel on their website. No stranger to the club, Vanhemel was previously active there as the superstructure coordinator and trainer of Genk U17.
“Eddy Vanhemel returns to his roots. From next season, the former coordinator and trainer at Genk U17 will be Head of Football and Coach Development at the Jos Vaessen Talent Academy. In this position he will be an important bridge between the Genk academy and the first team,” the club said.
In recent years, Vanhemel has worked with SK Lommel and, among others OH Levin where he even served as interim coach of the first team after Marc Brys was sacked. In his new role he will join the Technical Director of the Genk academy Koen Daerden.’
“While Daerden will be fully focused on the continuity and development of current and future young players, Vanhemel, as Head of Football and Coach Development, will have to oversee the football principles of our club. From the academy to the first team.’
Training Director Roland Breugelmans has already commented on the appointment of Vanhemel. “In concrete terms, we expect Eddy to share our football DNA with attractive and aggressive football that we like KRC Genk standing for an even deeper impact,” he begins.
“Furthermore, it will better guide our many trainees in applying these principles. As a teacher of the UEFA-A course at Voetbal Vlaanderen, he is a reference in the Belgian football world. In short, it is ideal. one to further shape the future of KRC Genk.”
