Krauklis promises to involve as many intellectual resources as possible in the work of Valka municipality

“Of course, the turnout of the population in the local elections could have been higher, but the 53.13% vote for the joint list of the Vidzeme Party and the Development of Latvia is an objective assessment of what has been done so far,” said Krauklis.

He believes that during the pre-election period they tried to analyze in good faith what had been done in accordance with the party’s program before the previous municipal elections. “Every Wednesday we had a discussion on our Facebook account, which had been watched by 2,000 to 3,000 people. Of course, epidemiological restrictions during the pre-election period limited the possibility of face-to-face meetings with voters,” Krauklis admitted.

The results of the local elections are already being analyzed today and the current mayor of Valka is determined to involve as many deputies as possible in the work of the council in order to use as many intellectual resources as possible.

In the Valka region, the joint list of the Vidzeme Party and “For the Development of Latvia” represented by the previous mayor Krauklis has won eight seats of deputies, according to the data compiled by the Central Election Commission.

1314 voters or 53.13% of the total number of voters voted for the joint list of Vidzeme Party and “For the Development of Latvia”. Krauklis, Maruta Stabulniece, Gita Avote, Jānis Anže, Agris Krastiņš, Vilmārs Vesingi, Aigars Roga and Andris Dainis have been elected to the City Council from this list.

The joint list of “New Unity” and the Latvian Farmers’ Union has won five seats in the new council. Viesturs Zariņš, Kristaps Sula, Sandra Pilskalne, Guntis Albergs and Dace Bašķe have been elected from this list.

The national association “Everything for Latvia!” – “For Fatherland and Freedom / LNNK” has won two mandates. Agnis Birkavs and Juris Žurovičs have been elected from this list.
