Krasnodar spent 11.4 million euros on youth football in 2019, Zenit – 8, CSKA – 3.2, Spartak – 3, Lokomotiv – 2.7 – Football

Member of the RFU Marketing Committee Alexey Kirichek reported club spending RPL for youth football in 2019.

“Thanks to the reports of the Premier League clubs published RFS, now you can see how much clubs are really spending on youth football and compare with their European counterparts.

Main conclusions:

  • € 38.04 million was spent in 2019 by current members of the Premier League on youth football, which is 4.45% of all operating budgets for clubs;
  • 19.44 million euros or 51% of all expenses are accounted for by FC Krasnodar and FC Zenit;
  • 2.83 million euros is the average cost of one club per year for youth football, but excluding the costs of FC Krasnodar and FC Zenit, the average cost per club (14 clubs) is only 1.33 million euros;
  • 10 out of 16 clubs spent less than 5% of their budgets on youth football;
  • The expenses of the leading Premier League clubs are comparable to those of their European counterparts, and sometimes even exceed them, but European transfers of homegrown Russian footballers are still rare: Golovin and now Miranchuk.

It is worth noting that according to the results of the latest study by ECA (Association of European Clubs – approx. Sports.ru) in 2019, 64% of club managers believe that at least 10% of the club budget should be spent on academies, “Kirichek wrote.

We add that most of all in 2019 spent on youth football Krasnodar – EUR 11.4 million, “Zenith” – 8 million, CSKA – 3.2 million, Spartak – 3 million, Locomotive – 2.7 million. Least of all – “Tambov”, “Rotor (300 thousand euros each) and Sochi (200 thousand).
