South Korean publisher Krafton, which owns the studio Unknown Worlds Entertainment, is in no hurry to announce Subnautica 2, but continues to share its details in its financial reports.
Let’s remember that the next Subnautica first appeared in Krafton’s report for the third quarter of 2023 and was positioned in it as “adventure survival” with a release in the first half of 2025 on PC and consoles.
IN Krafton report for the fourth quarter of 2023 the project was called Subnautica 2 and was announced for 2024. It is quite possible that we are talking about the start of the early access period that the original game had.
Additionally, Krafton now describes Subnautica 2 as “multiplayer sequel” with “model of games-services and increased replayability”with the goal of increasing the fan base.
Krafton notes that Subnautica 2 will have both single player mode and the ability to explore “a completely new alien planet” (we’re talking about “oceanic world”) in a co-op with up to four people.
The document mentions that Subnautica 2 will please “stunning stylized graphics” on Unreal Engine 5. It is not possible to verify this statement, since there is not a single frame from the game yet.
Given the relatively close release, the announcement of Subnautica 2 is probably just around the corner. In 2024, Krafton should also release the life simulator inZOI, the PvPvE shooter Black Budget (codename) and the mobile version of Dark and Darker.
