This was stated by the People’s Representative from BSP LEFT BULGARIA Krasimir Yankov during a parliamentary inspection of the Minister of Internal Affairs Rumiana Bachvarova. According to him, the problem is not in the legislation, but in how the work of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is managed and because of the failed appointments in the professional leadership. “You are explaining to the people that there is no personnel capacity in the Ministry of the Interior and the measures to combat domestic crime have not worked,” commented the representative of the People’s Republic of Serbia and pointed out that according to information from the Ministry of the Interior, his staff at the end of 2015 was 49,752 people and there were 4,400 unoccupied seats. “In view of recent events, my question is whether there are vacant positions in the staff of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and what are the reasons why the composition of the various divisions has not been filled?” he asked.
“With the brutal case of suicide in Sunny Beach, it became clear that you are using information from the participants themselves, including those who committed the crime, to explain motives for this crime,” Yankov added. He pointed out that according to statistics from the Ministry of the Interior, 1 employed in the Ministry of the Interior is responsible for 159 Bulgarian citizens. “It’s not a little. The budget costs for the detection of one crime are BGN 4,203, according to data for 2015,” he added.

According to him, what the Bulgarian citizens and the criminal contingent see is that the Ministry of Internal Affairs is not coping. “I am personally very worried that such cases, like the one in Sunny Beach, are coming. Should it happen 4-5 or 50 in the Bulgarian resorts, where there should be special measures, because tourists also rest there. Shall I remind you of the attack in Burgas, or will we now rely on public actions to divert attention”, commented the MP from the left. He insisted that the minister deal with the problems in the “Security” sector. “I urge you to reconsider your overall concept of the Law on the Ministry of Internal Affairs that you are proposing. This demotivates the system and rank-and-file police officers. If you don’t do it, you and the prime minister will only find and count corpses”, Krasimir Yankov is categorical.
