Nemiro applied for the position of the mayor of the capital at the event organized by “KPV LV” on Monday, at the same time introducing the election program and the leaders of the list to the public.
The political force previously informed that its priorities in the work of the Riga City Council will be the representation of the interests of Rigans and good governance “from the corridors of the council and their institutions to the inner courtyards of residential districts”.
Nemiro chairs the Economic, Agrarian, Environmental and Regional Policy Committee in Parliament, but previously served as Minister of Economy. The portal “Delfi” has already reported that the extraordinary elections of the Riga City Council will take place on August 29. Polling stations will be open for a few hours during the previous three voting days. Parties must submit lists of candidates for the elections from 14 to 20 July.
The official election campaign period will be valid from July 7 to August 29.
Saeima At the beginning of this year, it was decided to dismiss Riga City Council. However, the election date has been postponed twice in connection with the reduction of Covid-19.
