KPU Responds to Findings of IDR 195 Billion Flow to Political Party Treasurer Accounts from Abroad

Jakarta

General Election Commissions (KPU) responding to the findings of the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) related to the flow of IDR 195 billion from abroad to 21 political party treasurer accounts. The KPU is waiting for the report.

“That’s PPATK. What’s clear is whether it was reported to the KPU? The KPU reports what is reported,” said Indonesian KPU Commissioner August Mellaz, at the KPU office, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (10/1/2024).

Mellaz said that the report from PPATK had indeed been submitted to the KPU, but that did not mean it included the discovery of Rp. 195 billion. He said that the KPU also usually coordinated with PPATK for findings in the field.

“We often hear about this information (PPATK findings). We also received a letter, in early December, I forget exactly. It concerns several things that there is coordination between the KPU and PPATK,” said Mellaz.

He said that PPATK could report such things to the KPU. However, Mellaz said that the detailed numbers were within the authority of Bawaslu.

“But it seems, for the details, there was information conveyed to us by PPATK, for example related to coordination, I forget the term, but for example safe deposit. “There must be a report, but how much is the value? Well, it seems that the details are in Bawaslu because it is in the context of supervision,” he said.

Previously, PPATK discovered that there was a flow of hundreds of billions of rupiah from abroad to the accounts of political party treasurers. There were 21 treasurer accounts detected by PPATK receiving this fantastic flow of funds.

“From 21 political parties in 2022 there were 8,270 transactions and this will increase in 2023 to 9,164 transactions. They are among those that we know receive foreign funds,” said PPATK Head Ivan Yustiavandana in a press conference broadcast on PPATK’s YouTube.

Ivan said that the transaction value had increased compared to 2022. In 2023, money flow transactions from abroad to the accounts of 21 political party treasurers reached IDR 195 billion.

“In 2022 the fund receipts will only be IDR 83 billion, in 2023 it will increase to IDR 195 billion,” said Ivan.

PPATK did not provide detailed data on the treasurers of the political parties who received the money flow. Ivan said that the treasurers who received the cash flow did not have the status of general treasurers.

“This is not a general treasurer. Treasurers in all regions and all kinds. We found that from 21 political parties, in 2022 there were 8,270 transactions and this increased in 2023 to 9,164 transactions. So they are also among those that we know get funds from abroad,” Ivan said.

PPATK also found reports of large transactions from abroad involving registered legislative candidates (DCT). There were 100 DCTs whose transactions were analyzed by PPATK and found receipts worth 7.7 trillion.

“So we reported the IFTI (International Fund Transfer Instruction Report) report so that for the 100 DCTs for which we had obtained data earlier, there was a receipt of IDR 7,740,011,320,238. So this person received that amount of money from abroad,” said Ivan.

Ivan added that of the 100 DCTs whose transactions were analyzed, PPATK found purchase transactions reaching hundreds of billions of rupiah

“Next there is a report on goods purchase transactions, which we indirectly know about the campaign and all kinds of things. There were 100 DCTs carrying out goods purchase transactions worth IDR 592,548.7… (Five hundred and ninety-two billion),” said Ivan.
