General Election Commissions (KPU) RI coordinates with the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) regarding voter data leaks. The KPU revealed that it is currently in the process of investigating the leak.
“Now again we are asking for help from the cyber task force, now the one working for BSSN, he oversees Headquarters,” said the member KPU RI Betty Epsilon Idroos at the KPU, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (28/11/2023).
“We have coordinated, we are cross-checking it first,” he added.
Betty admitted that her party was aware of the leak information. However, Betty could not confirm whether the data came from the election management agency’s data warehouse or not.
“Check it first, what the data is like, what form it is in, check it again, investigate it again,” he explained.
For information, the data leak went viral on social media. One of the accounts on X’s social media revealed in his tweet that a threat actor named Jimbo was selling data from the KPU.
The data is sold for 2 BTC (bitcoin). The price of 1 BTC is equivalent to IDR 571,559,477.
The data contains related information from 252 million people. These include NIK, NKK, KTP number, TPS, e-KTP, gender and date of birth. This data also includes from the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia, the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, and the Consultate of the Republic of Indonesia.
