KPU chairman Arief Budiman is positive for Covid-19

Chairman of the General Election Commission (KPU) Arief Budiman admitted positive for infection Covid-19. He is now undergoing self-quarantine because he has no severe symptoms.

In his written statement, Arief underwent a swab test on Thursday night (17/9). The test was conducted as a condition for attending a meeting at the Bogor Palace on Friday (18/9). He tested positive so he canceled the meeting.

“September 17, evening, conducted a swab test to be used as a condition for attending a meeting at the Bogor Palace on September 18, with positive results,” Arief told reporters via text message, Friday (18/9)


Arief is currently undergoing independent isolation. He also continued to work as usual at home during his independent isolation.

“On the 18th morning, we started self-quarantine because there were no symptoms, cough, fever, runny nose or shortness of breath,” said Arief.

Now the KPU office is sterilized. There are no KPU employees working in the office temporarily.

Previously, KPU commissioner Evi Novida Ginting also tested positive for the corona virus. This was discovered on 10 September. Now, Evi is also undergoing independent isolation.
